Well a lot of us call ourselves educated. But have we ever wondered what exactly does this term educated means. Does having couple of degrees means educated or does being to just able to read and write means educated.
what I am trying to tell is, we call ourselves educated but yet educated people around us give and take dowry. ( If only you knew how much would an IAS or an IPS officer costs these days….. according to some news channels its somewhere around 1 crore; man..I would rather stay unmarried than pay that amount). Few educated people would spit on the road especially where it says don’t spit. I know highly educated people who would give the same Maa Ben gaalis as beggar or a drunkard on the street would. Then there are few who would still smoke knowing the hazards of smoking. A few educated individuals have filed PIL in the court to find out the sex of their baby as they want a boy after two girls and their defense is - what’s wrong in having a boy after two girls. How are the above mentioned educated individuals different from the uneducated people who give and take dowry, smoke beedis, kill female fetuses etc.
So according to me education today solves only one purpose and that is just to get us some kind of a job. As a society and as educated individuals we have a lot of growing up to do. We need to find a higher purpose for education. The one that not only gives jobs but also helps us in becoming better individuals and the one that will make us respect human beings as they are irrespective of age, race, religion, gender…
I have a maid who lives some where in Mankhurd and has two children who go to school. Even my kids will eventually go to school. Twenty years hence both set of kids will be supposedly educated. So what will be difference between them? The difference should be in upbringing. I am educated and my maid is not. I need to make my children better and responsible individuals.
Once at my previous work place we were having this discussion on some movie which highlighted the apathy of how the females fetuses are being killed. One of my colleagues who had growing up boys aged 15 and 13 said..oh this is something I need to talk to my children about. After further discussion I came to know that whenever she would come across such issues she would jot down points so that she can discuss it with her children. She was more of a friend to them than a mother. Now that is what we should be doing as educated individuals. We need to talk to and sensitize our children about various issues, be it cancer, HIV/AIDS, pollution etc. We need to make them civilized more than any thing else.
I am sure many of you think that education will solve most of the yesteryear problems. But friends think again we also need to change in our mentality towards humanity as a whole.

CRICKET!!! Panacea for all our problems
Scene 1: U know there are these power cuts goin on in navi mumbai...so during one of these power cuts I saw two young shopkeepers (one owns an internet cafĂ© and another a renowned cake shop, both educated and young) playing cricket in the small space available to them between their shops. (They have just one shop in between their shops which was closed, so you can imagine how small the space will be to play cricket...say approx..10 to 12 feet). There was no wicket nothing…just two men playing cricket in whatever place they could get.
Scene 2: My dad had slip disk once and he was advised complete bed rest for a week. During that time I was passing by his bedroom. I saw him sitting right at the edge of bed and watching television. I thought may be theres some good ..movie going on ( or theres some sexy babe on screen). But no, there some match going with Sachin Tendulkar playing…I asked him…’Match this time..’ with a sad face he said..”this is the match where sachin got out in the ninetees for the third time....”.. I mean come one…like his own son got out at 99 or sumthing. You are sick you are suppose to be in bed. I told him why dont you lie down and see the match. He did lie down but with his eyes transfixed on television.
I don’t understand, what is it with men and cricket… especially Indian men and cricket. Be it any age...any match any country vs any country...Indian men are just obsessed with cricket…Its in their blood ….Mark my words twenty years hence scientists will discover a particular gene that is found only in Indian men that will relate their madness to cricket. Its like its passed on from father to son. I have not seen this madness any where else in the world. No matter how badly our cricket team performs our men just love cricket. Almost every man happens to be a cricket expert and ready to give our cricketers some valuable peace of advise…
That actually made me think…cricket can actually solve a lot of problems..
Lets take attrition for example ..atleast as far as the men are concerned.. If you are an HR professional in some company and you know few guys are going to put in their resignation .. u don’t have to do much…just remove the furniture of the conference room and lock these guys up there …with a few hard cardboard or plastic files and tennis balls. If you think the tennis balls will cause damage don’t worry plastic balls will do and that’s it..these guys will enter a state of INERTIA. You know what is inertia right.
in•er•tia :Physics The tendency of a body to resist acceleration; the tendency of a body at rest to remain at rest or of a body in straight line motion to stay in motion in a straight line unless acted on by an outside force.
Similarly these guys will go into a state of inertia…they will not leave the conference room unless and until external force is applied or when they are told to stop. This can be done till all the vacancies in other companies are filled and they have no choice to stay back in the same company. Besides who would want to leave a company which allows them to play cricket. So be innovative try and keep these male employees engaged…how about monthly cricket match….hmmm… a weekly cricket quiz....that will surely keep them on toes with every one trying to outdo each other with their cricket knowledge…. … just find some way to relate things in the office to cricket. You know offices have meeting rooms which are named after some one ,so as to identify them….rename all these meetings rooms on our beloved cricket players…guys will surely feel at home then…think I m sure there are many things that can be done…
Next problem, you heading for a divorce …going through a seven year hitch…your boy friend is not interested in you any more…guess what ..cricket can solve your problem..start talking cricket to your man..You have seen that new bank add..where the girl tries to impress her husband with her cricket knowledge and says..’’arre isko toh slice marna chahiye tha.’..and her husband looks at her dumbstruck…bas something like that..even if you don’t like cricket…even if you don’t know the difference between slip and gully…. even if you think that Yuvraj Singh and M S Dhoni are models and not cricketers ( coz they are seen and perform better in adds than on field).....just fake it….show some interest…common its not so difficult…the transition is easy from positions in bedroom to positions in cricket….and that’s it …he will keep correcting you and will come closer to you again….and then your man will be yours forever. Again …innovation is the key…think about different ways to relate cricket to your relationship…You have made a new dish which you want your man to like ..say its been given to you by a friend who works at TENDULKARS….or if you buy a new shirt..and you have the slightest inclination that your man’s not gonna like it…just say…you saw yuvraj singh wearing same kinda shirt in some add...
I know I know… there are gonna be a whole lot guys waiting to comment on this…bring them (in swingers, googlies) on machos...I am ready to field them all.

REGRET!!!!
Some times you make such blunders in your life....that it actually makes you think.......did I really just do that.....what was I thinking!!!!!I have just committed one such blunder and really cant believe i just did that.
In moments like these you try and trace time back wards ....and try and find out where things actually started going wrong....images are blurr...and you play and replay the whole thing again and again pin point the exact moment where things went wrong.... you wish you could turn back time....that very moment....you wish you had said something sensible or done something sensible...this is regret. You regret everything ...from being there at first place...to every thing...that you could possibly blame. And then you wish...that if at all you have done something wrong...GOD should punish you in any way other than this.
you know what things dont end there....even if try to rectify things....you end up doing some more blunders....as the murphy's law goes ....'if some thing has to go wrong it will go wrong'.
As of now I have tried to rectify...the blunder...and I just pray...that every thing goes well....

TZP and Can something be done about these crazy news channels!!
Saw Tare Zzameen pe the other day...Owesome movie.....though I felt the first half was a bit sloppy....but second half made up for every thing...my sis says it was entertaining movie. But I disagree. Lagaan,Jab We Met, Mein hoon na, Munna bhai ...are entertainment. But movies like Tare Zameen Pe are eye openers..u mature with such movies ....u understand a life a little bit better with such movies. TZP is sure to make a difference to every one in some way or the other. It made us think about life in a different prespective.
Wats wrong with these news channels these days. anything and every thing is news. I did not knw clippings frm laughter challege were news...i didnt knw...Ash's 1st karva chauth was news....i didnt knw wats happening in reality shows is news( we can practically see the whole of reality show episode in news before it is telecasted...shudnt even bother watching these shows again) i didnt knw 'aap ka rashifal' was news....Some news channels seem to be sponsered by bollywood ...80% of their news is regarding bollywood..baad mein time mila toh there are other news to cover..There once was a small show about some ...Mole Forecasting( what are the different kinds moles and wat do they signify and all....). i thought may be this is somehting different and somehting new. But guess from where was the target sample taken....BOLLYWOOD...Ash has mole on her arm..it signify's this....hritik has mole on this place he will do this in future....I m sure salman has no idea that he has a tiny mini mole behind his ear...but our news channel walas do...and i m still trying to confirm whether abhisheks mole on his cheek was really a mole or a pimple. God these people are crazy.
Was Listening to Sidhu....regarding the aussie controvery...on some new channel. My head started bursting with in few mins of watching the show...kitna bolta hai yaar....to top it all..they invited mandira bedi for her comments ...she was in Mumbai i guess ....sidhu was blabbering more about her than the controvery...it was like ... flirting via satellite. I guess for sometime i m gonna stick to reading my good old newpapers....

Unsafe Mumbai!!
Read about how the 2 girls were molested in Mumbai by a mob. The pictures are horrifying. To think that such thing can be planned.I mean ... this mob was waiting for a prey..and when the moment came they just pounced on these girls. These girls were in a group had it been a lonely girl she would have raped and literally torn apart.
Then there's this news about how an indian father in canada burnt alive his pregnant daughter, son-in-law and grand son just because son-in-law happened to be from a lower caste.
Forget about being man or women for time being. We are just loosing respect for human beings. A persons dignity, emotions feelings dont matter to us any more. Koi marta hai to mara kare hume kya. Inspite of being educated we are worse than animals. These are some instances where one just cant do much except for feeling disgusted and wonder where is all this taking us. Back to being animals ...i guess...a full circle...
